Catechism

At St Monica Mission, faith formation is central to our community’s mission. We believe that nurturing the spiritual lives of our children and youth is vital in building a strong and vibrant Church.

Classes from Reception to Year 12

Our catechism programme welcomes children from Reception through to Year 12, offering age-appropriate lessons rooted in the Syro-Malabar Catholic tradition. Each class focuses not only on teaching the faith but also on helping children encounter Christ in their daily lives.

Dedicated Teachers and Engaging Learning

We are blessed with a team of dedicated and passionate teachers—many of whom are parents and trained volunteers from within our mission. With over 80 active students, our sessions are lively, prayerful, and enriched by creative teaching methods such as discussions, group activities, music, and crafts.

Faith in Action

Catechism at St Monica Mission extends beyond classroom learning. Our students actively participate in Holy Qurbana, assist with liturgical celebrations, and engage in community outreach initiatives. We organise enriching experiences like retreats, Bible quizzes, and mission-themed events to deepen their relationship with God.

CML (Cherupushpalayude Mission League) & Savio Friends– Forming Young Missionaries

At St Monica Mission, every child is encouraged to grow not only through catechism classes but also through faith-based groups that nurture prayer, leadership, and service.

Savio Friends is our group for younger children from Reception to Year 4. Through songs, storytelling, creative activities, and simple prayers, children are introduced to the joy of being a friend of Jesus. Weekly meetings provide a fun and faith-filled space to build confidence, compassion, and Catholic values.

From Year 5 onwards, children become part of the Cherupushpalayude Mission League (CML) – one of the largest missionary movements for Catholic children. During their weekly sessions, members learn about the lives of saints, engage in prayer, spiritual reflections, and take part in service activities that help them live out their missionary calling.

Together, Savio Friends and CML play a vital role in the spiritual formation of our children, helping them become joyful and active witnesses of Christ in the Church and in the world.
